FAQ - SPARK (SK Robotics EDGE)
Q: Does my child need any prior experience?
A: No – none at all! SPARK is designed specifically for complete beginners in Grades 1- 2. Your child just needs curiosity and a willingness to explore – that's it!
Q: Are materials safe for young kids?
Safety Note: If a child has a habit of putting objects in their mouth, please let us know before enrolling. In such cases, we may need your assistance during class. (We do not allow parents to stay in the class otherwise).
Q: Is it safe to take projects home?
A: Absolutely – batteries are in secure cases.
Replacement Fee: A $5 fee applies if the battery or case is broken, lost, or drained (or you may provide your own).
Q: What is conductive tape?
A: It's a special sticky tape that carries electricity. Kids use it to create glowing paths on paper – super easy and safe! Extra tape for home is available for $2 per meter.
Q: How long does the battery last?
Remember to break the circuit or turn the LED off when not in use. Leaving it on can drain the battery fully!
If your child is eager to experiment with new ideas at home - which we love to encourage! - we recommend buying separate spare batteries.
Q: What if my child misses a class?
A: Consistency is key! Make-up sessions are difficult to arrange and offered only for illness (with a doctor's note). These are subject to availability and can take 1- 2 months to schedule.
Q: Commitment & Levels?
A: You commit to one level (4 weeks) at a time. Currently, we offer 2 levels per grade. Enrol in both upfront to save $50!
Q: Is this STEM or STEAM?
A: Both! We combine STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with the creativity of Art (origami and glowing designs).
